A Cleveland school district is considering renaming seven schools named after important American historical figures who are despised by the anti-American "woke" left.
Among these schools are Thomas Jefferson School and Patrick Henry School.
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States and the author of the Declaration of Independence. Patrick Henry was a well-known leader of the 1770s American colonial independence movement, best known for his famous quote, "Give me liberty or give me death!"
The changes have been in the works for more than a year, when the Cleveland City Council issued a resolution in 2020 after the death of George Floyd, urging the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to rename schools that are currently named after "racist" Americans.
Over the summer, the district's Board of Education formed a working group to develop naming criteria and identify schools named after people with established histories of "systemic racism" and "oppression."
According to the Board, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry, two great American patriots who helped create the single greatest and freest country in the history world are guilty of "systemic racism" and "oppression."
The move comes amid a radical epidemic of destroying statues and changing the names of schools named after Americans Founding Fathers and heroes since the death of George Floyd in May 2020.
